One Piece OP-16 "The Time of Battle": Release Date & Chase Cards
One Piece OP-16 “The Time of Battle” releases in English on 12 June 2026, and it is one of the most collector-heavy sets the game has produced — headlined by a first-ever triple Manga Rare chase featuring the three original Marine Admirals. Here is what is in the set, the cards worth chasing, and how to get it.
What is OP-16?
OP-16, “The Time of Battle,” is the sixteenth main booster set for the One Piece Card Game. It draws on the Paramount War — one of the most beloved arcs in the series — and brings six new Leaders to the table, including Ace, Luffy, Buggy, Sengoku, Yamato and Blackbeard. The set launched in Japan in late May 2026 and arrives in English on 12 June, stocked for our July launch.
The chase: a first-ever triple Manga Rare
The big story for collectors is the chase line-up. For the first time, a single set carries three Manga Rare cards instead of the usual one — rendered in the black-and-white manga art style, featuring the three original Navy Admirals:
- Sakazuki (Akainu)
- Kuzan (Aokiji)
- Borsalino (Kizaru)
On top of that, the Secret Rare (SEC) Ace and Blackbeard are the headline pulls, alongside Super Alt-Art treatments of the three Admirals. It is a deliberately stacked set — the kind that rewards both players building around the new Leaders and collectors hunting the alt-arts.
Should you buy singles, packs or a box?
That depends on what you are after:
- Players chasing a specific new Leader (Ace and Blackbeard decks are the early talking points) are usually better served by singles — you get exactly the cards your deck needs.
- Collectors and sealed buyers who enjoy the pull experience — and want a shot at the triple Manga Rares and SEC chases — will want booster packs or a booster box.
The era of buying sealed product purely as an investment has cooled across the hobby; the healthiest approach in 2026 is to buy what you will actually play with or display, and treat any value upside as a bonus.
Why OP-16 matters for the meta
Beyond the collectables, six new Leaders is a meaningful shake-up. New Leaders reshape which colours and archetypes are competitive, so OP-16 is worth watching even if you only play casually — expect deck lists and tier talk to move in the weeks after release. We will cover standout builds in follow-up posts here on the Phoenix blog.
